Piano Lessons

I teach ages 4-adult.  However, some 4 year olds are mature enough to sit and participate in a 30 minute lesson.

The length of the lesson will depend on the age and maturity level of the student.

Tuition is due on the first lesson of each month.

Lessons Fees:  $100 Non-refundable Registration fee due in August will hold your time slot.

                              60 minutes - Please Call

Tardiness & Missed Lessons:  Students must notify me of a lesson cancellation at least 24 hours before their lesson time is scheduled.  A student who skips a lesson, will simply miss out on the benefit of that lesson.  Your lesson time is reserved exclusively for you.  If you are late, your lessons will be short.  So, please be on time.  No refund for missed or forgotten lessons.

Music Books and Supplies:  New students will be furnished with lessons and assignment books at the first lessons, payable upon receipt.  During the semester, additional music for recitals, metronomes, flashcards, etc. will also be supplied, payable upon receipt.

Personal Hygiene:  I expect students to have clean hands and fingernails.  No candy or gum is allowed in the studio.  Long fingernails preclude the development of good piano technique, so please have them trimmed.

Practice Time:  Please work with your child to set up daily, uninterrupted practice time to establish a routine.  Students are encouraged to keep a practice record and to work toward musical goals rather than simply counting minutes.  The study of music is rewarding and enjoyable, but it is also work!  As you know, your child will only be as committed as you are.  To ensure that you get your money's worth, I need your help to motivate and support your child in order to make music study a productive, enjoyable experience.  Without regular practice at home, the student will end up practicing during the lesson, rather than refining their old skills and learning new ones.  Practice is not about playing through their piece once or twice.  It should involve stopping to work on notes and rhythms that they may be missing.  Practice skills are taught in the lessons and should be utilized at home.

Recitals:  My studio gives two recitals per year- December and May.  Participation is optional, but is strongly encouraged.  The recitals give the students a wonderful opportunity to "show off"  the things they have learned throughout the year.  Friends and family are invited to attend.

Festival and Rally:  These are 2 activities I encourage my students to participate in.  The Festival is in November and the Rally is in the spring.  Both of these activities offer the students a chance to play memorized pieces in front of judges who critique their performance.  There is a small fee for each of these activities.

Music Styles:  My students will study music from all genres.  My lessons are structured to include theory, ear training, sight reading, music appreciation and music history.  I also include computer games which compliment and reinforce the concepts learned in the lessons.
